Pikey Peak Trek area is located around Nepal Mid-East within the district of Solu-Khumbu which is directly south of Mt. Everest and Khumbu region. It is a least ventured destination but is slowly gaining popularity due to its serene wilderness.
 
Pikey Peak is actually a high hill top covered within enchanting forest filled with various species of rhododendron, magnolia, oaks, hemlocks, blue pines and fir tree lines which make this trip more enjoyable along with stunning panorama of Himalayan peaks with view of Mt. Everest.

Pikey Peak Trek Overview

Pikey is a rare and scenic view point hill that one can capture within less than a week or more where one can enjoy local fascinating cultures as Pikey areas situated around Solu. You can also explore villages of mix hill tribes  which makes this walk equally interesting.
 
One can choose varied routes with several options as per one holiday time in Nepal of less than a week frame of 5 nights 6 days or more. Similarly you can extend the time frame to visit nice and lovely villages of Solu district.

Best Seasons for Pikey Peak Trek

Pikey Peak Trek can be done in nearly all months of the year except the monsoon.  During monsoon, it is the wet times of heavy rainy seasons where dark heavy clouds obstructs the views and disturbs the walks. March to May is recommended as this time of spring season, where you can walk in the midst of beautiful rhododendron trees during flowering times.
 
On the trail to Pikey Peak Hill top, you will witness various species and colors of rhododendron along with other wild flowers. Most of the morning time are clear for views of mountain range. However afternoon can get cloudy with light thunder shower or can snow sometimes during spring time of March to May.
 
Other good times will be from mid September till December months when most of the days are clear for views and pleasant walks. The days are shorter with sun light hours due to autumn / fall and pre winter seasons. However, expect much cold on morning and night times with freezing temperatures above 1,800 meter high and in shade away from sunlight.
 

Pikey Peak Trek Difficulty

Although the walk ito Pikey Peak is not difficult overall but with only one day a steep climb leads you on winding path. Thus it is very necessary to follow your lead guide as some of the trail are misleading on route to the top of Pikey Peak Hill Top.
 
The other difficulty is if you are taking a four wheel drive or other vehicles, some sections of road conditions are rough and bumpy. Due to which it takes nearly 6-7 hours to reach to nearest road head of Salleri town and Phaplu village.
 
Next comes flying into Phaplu from Kathmandu where sometimes flight can get delayed and leads to cancellation due to bad unfavorable weather conditions. As such one has to take a chance or wait till the flight operates. The next option is to drive to Jiri or at Phaplu for the trek to Pikey Peak.

Option A:

Day 01: Kathmandu to fly or drive to Phaplu - 7 hrs (20 mins on air).
Day 02: Trek to Jampre (2,920 m) - 5 hrs.
Day 03: Trek to Pikey Base Camp (3,640 m) - 6 hrs.
Day 04: Climb to Pikey Peak (4,302 m) for sunrise view and walk to Loding (2,515 m) - 7 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Phaplu vial Salleri town - 5 hrs.
Day 06: Fly or drive to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel.
 

Option B:

Day 01: Kathmandu to Phaplu on Sharing Jeep - 9 hrs.
Day 02: Trek to Jampre (2,920 m) - 5 hrs.
Day 03: Trek to Pikey Base Camp (3,640 m) - 6/7 hrs.
Day 04: Climb to Pikey Peak (4,302 m) with sunrise view trek to Loding (2,515 m)  - 7/8 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Junbesi (2,675 m) , visit Thubten Choeling Monastery- 05 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Phaplu (2,413 m) - 4/ 5 hrs.
Day 07: Fly or drive from Phaplu to Kathmandu.
 

Option C:

Day 01: Drive to Jiri (1,955m) - 6 hrs.
Day 02: Trek to Shivalaya (1,640m) - 5 hrs.
Day 03: Trek to Bhander (2,190m) - 5 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Sete (2,430m) - 6 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Lamjura (3,530 m) - 4 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Pikey top (4,065m) and return to Lamjura.
Day 07: Trek to Junbesi via Lamjura - 4 hrs.
Day 08: Rest day at Junbesi for short hike to Thupten Chuling (2,930m) - 04 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Phaplu( 2,470 m) - 5 hrs.
Day 10: Fly to Kathmandu from Phaplu (20 minutes scenic flight)
 

Option D:

Day 01: Drive to Jiri (1,900 m) - 6 hrs.
