The Everest region is home to Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world and many other snow-capped peaks, such as Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Thamserku, Nuptse, Amadablam and Island Peak. This region has been popular for trekking and climbing ever since Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgey Sherpa first ascended Mt. Everest in 1953.
Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also lies in this region and is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including endangered species. Apart from majestic mountains, glacial lakes, lush rhododendron forests and rich biodiversity, the highly enriched Sherpa culture and thier remakable hospitability has been the major attraction of this region.
Everest region offers various trekking trails ranging from short treks to long and adventurous treks. Although trekking can be done throughout the year, spring and autumn are the best seasons for trekking in this region. Everest Trekking mostly begins and ends from the tiny airstrip of Lukla.
