Nagarkot Changunarayan Day Hike is one of the best day hikes around the Kathmandu Valley. If you have just a day in Kathmandu and are looking for an easy day hike, this trip is the best option, as it is both a natural and cultural excursion.
Thickly vegetated hills, lush green valleys, authentic villages, welcoming hospitality, and breathtaking Himalayan views are what await you in Nagarkot, the premiere Hill Station on the Kathmandu Valley.
Nagarkot, at an elevation of 2100m, is a popular destination of its kind, presenting one of the most expansive views of the Himalayas, including the Annapurna range, Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal range, Langtang range, Jugal range, Rolwaling range, Everest range, and Numbur range.
Well-known for its sunrise view from the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayan Range, Nagarkot also offers a panoramic outlook of the great Kathmandu Valley. The awe-inspiring majesty and beauty of this heavenly place offer an amazing lifetime experience to anyone who visits.
Nagarkot Changunarayan Day Hike commences with a scenic drive to Nagarkot from the capital. Upon reaching Nagarkot, we will ascend the hilltop to admire the enthralling Himalayan views from its ridge. The hiking trail from Nagarkot gradually descends through the terraced fields to the ‘Tamang Village.’
The walking is easy with gradual downhill and fairly level paths. It will take about 4 hours to reach Changunarayan, the oldest pagoda-style Hindu temple known for its artistic, religious, cultural, and historic significance. After exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site, we drive back to Kathmandu, where our fascinating day hike ends.
