Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

Your Langtang Gosaikunda Lake Trek starts early in the morning. On this day, you will leave the busy streets of Kathmandu (1,400 m) and set off for Syabrubesi (1,420 m), the starting point of your trek. 

The drive starts smoothly along the Prithvi Highway. You will follow winding banks of the serene Trishuli River. Along the route, the fascinating sights of small markets and distant hillside settlements can be seen, which will captivate you throughout this adventure. The brief stops for tea or snacks at the scenic stops offer a delightful glimpse of the local surroundings.

After a few hours, the road climbs higher into the hills. The scenery changes dramatically. You can see deep gorges and rocky cliffs, and thick forests while travelling through a section of bumpy hillside road.

After an exhilarating 7 to 8 hour road journey, you will reach Syabrubesi. It is a charming village with traditional houses and fluttering prayer flags. It is situated in Rasuwa and is also the start point of the trek. 

At Saybrubesi, you can see several prayer flags fluttering in the breeze. The small gompas add a peaceful and spiritual charm to the surroundings. You may walk around the village and observe its vibrant traditions. You can stay for a night in a teahouse, which will provide you with the true essence of mountain life.

Your stop on the 2nd day of the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is Lama Hotel. Leaving Syabrubesi behind, you will cross the Bhote Koshi River through the exhilarating suspension bridge. You will then enter a lush and serene forest.

You will then gradually follow an uphill path and make your way while enjoying mesmerizing views. Soon afterwards, you will reach Pairo, where you can take a short break and immerse yourself in nature’s serenity.

Then, the path rises to Bamboo, which is a common place where trekkers have lunch. Continuing further, you will walk along the trail following the Langtang River. Moving ahead, you will walk along the steep pathways and also cross exhilarating bridges.

On the final stretch, you will have to climb steeply until you reach Lama Hotel at 2,480 meters. It is a quiet settlement in the Langtang Region. Here, teahouses offer simple but satisfying meals. You will stay at the best teahouse of the village for the night, which will provide a warm place to rest and the opportunity to unwind after a rewarding day.

After an early breakfast, you will leave Lama Hotel and head towards Langtang Village. As you ascend, you can see impressive sights of the Langtang Lirung mountain. After navigating the scenic trails for about three hours, you will reach Ghoda Tabela. This is a serene spot where you will have lunch while enjoying the scenery.

Leaving Ghoda Tabela, you will see the landscape transforming to open meadows and grazing fields. The trail then continues along the Langtang River, moving past small settlements before eventually leading you into the serene Langtang Village, which is your stop for the night

After leaving Langtang Village, you will start your journey heading toward Kyanjin Gompa. You will climb along the path, gradually enjoying striking views of Langtang Lirung, Gangchempo, and many other nearby peaks. 

As you move ahead, you can spot small yak grazing fields and many Buddhist landmarks like mani walls and chortens. You will also see bright prayer flags fluttering in the breeze. 

On this day, you will trek through small villages, terraced farms, and cross the serene streams. The incredible scenery of the Himalayan terrains will enhance your overall sightseeing experience and make your overall experience intriguing. 

You will walk for around 4 hours from Langtang Village to arrive at the Kyanjin Gompa. Once you arrive, you can visit the ancient monastery and feel its spiritual atmosphere. You can also stop by the local yak cheese factory to taste fresh cheese. 

This village is one of the famous spots in the Langtang Region. While trekking, people stay here and or hike up to nearby ridges for stunning views. Here, you will get a simple but well-maintained room at a teahouse to rest for the night.

Kyanjin Gompa is a stunning village in the Langtang region. It is a point from which you can go on side hikes. On this day, you will head towards Tserko Ri. Reaching the top of this point is a dream of many trekkers who choose to explore the Langtang region. 

On this day, you will begin trekking early in the morning. You will leave Kyanjin Gompa and ascend through a series of zigzag paths. You will walk along a sharply steep path. While walking along the ridge, you will get to enjoy the incredible scenery. About halfway, you will pass through some old yak shelters and also spot several yaks grazing nearby. 

As you move forward, the incredible views of snow-clad mountains can be seen. Continuing through the rugged path with loose stones scattered, you will finally reach Tsergo Ri. The marvelous sights of Yala Peak, Langtang Lirung, Langtang Ri, and other nearby snowy peaks can be seen from the peak. 

You can enjoy your moment at Tsergo Ri and then head down to Kyanjin Gompa for an overnight stay.

You will return to  Lama Hotel on this day. After breakfast in Kyanjin Gompa, you will follow the route that is mostly downhill. You will retrace the trail through Langtang Village, which will provide you with a chance to observe the village settlements once more and appreciate its charm.

Navigating the villages like Langtang Village, Thyangsyapu, and walking downhill through the forested route leads you to Ghodatabela. It is an ideal place to stop for a hearty lunch and recharge.

From Ghodatabela, you will gradually proceed towards Lama Hotel while enjoying the serene ambiance. For the overnight, you will stay in one of these teahouses and enjoy a warm and delicious dinner.

You will head to Thulo Syabru on this day. Your exhilarating journey begins after a hearty breakfast at your Lama Hotels teahouse.

The trail takes you through a dense forest and several little streams. The glimpses of snow-capped mountains and the serene atmosphere of the forested area along the route make this day's walk refreshing and joyful. 

After leaving the forested stretch, you will reach a point from where one way goes to Syabrubesi, and another goes to Thulo Syabru. You will follow the path leading towards Thulo Syabru, while beholding the incredible scenery. 

To make it to Thulo Syabru, you will ascend gradually up through the terraced fields and traditional houses. Soon afterwards, you will reach Thulo Syabru, which is a beautiful village noted for its warm hospitality and cultural exploration opportunities. 

In this village, you can see the wooden houses and the stunning scenery of the Himalayan terrains, and the enchanting Langtang and Ganesh Himal. You will stay at one of the finest teahouses of Thulosyabru for the night.

Your trek to Sing Gompa starts early in the morning. You will leave Thulo Syabru’s teahouses after having wholesome breakfast and make your way towards Sing Gompa.

The trail leads you through peaceful pine forests before opening into high meadows where yaks often graze. On the way you will get to enjoy panoramic views of the Langtang range. You will be walking through serene villages and teahouses scattered along the route while also getting glimpses of daily life.

The path ascends consistently, taking you through the wide and scenic areas that offer spectacular mountain views. You will continue walking through scenic landscapes and finally reach Sing Gompa.

This quiet little settlement has a serene Buddhist monastery and rewards you with panoramic views of snow-capped mountains. You can also feel the calm air and spiritual ambiance here, which will enhance your overall experience.

Afterwards, you may then settle into your accommodation. You may take rest or explore the local cheese factory while enjoying the tranquil surroundings.

On Day 9, you will trek uphill towards the Gosaikunda Lake. The trail leading towards the lake goes up through the tranquil rhododendron forests. You will be navigating rocky and alpine terrain while witnessing marvelous vistas on this day.

As you walk higher, you will behold stunning Langtang Lirung vistas along with several other snow-covered peaks. In several sections, you can see colorful prayer flags and chortens. So, you can also feel the spiritual ambiance of the region. 

Moving ahead, you will reach Cholangpati. Then, the trail continues uphill, and you will cross Lauribinayak. It is a point from where a 360-degree panorama of sunrise and sunset can be seen. After crossing this scenic point, you will reach Saraswati Kunda. You may stop here and enjoy the incredible scenery.

Another significant landmark you will come across on the route is the Buddha Mandir (4,200 meters). From this point, the main Gosaikunda is roughly an hour and a half away. Soon, you will arrive at the Gosaikunda Lake, which is situated at 4,380 meters. Up near the lake, you can also see a shrine dedicated to Lord Ganesh.

The main lake is surrounded by rugged terrain and snowy mountains. This site is also visited by the pilgrims who believe it carries a calm, sacred energy. On this day, you may explore the main lake as well as the smaller nearby lakes that are equally enchanting. You will end the day resting at your teahouse at Gosaikunda and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of this tranquil Himalayan destination.

On this day, you leave the shores of Gosaikunda Lake behind and head off to Sing Gompa along a track surrounded by striking mountain landscape vistas. Waking up early, you will pass several other smaller glacial ponds. At each stop, you can look around and be fascinated by the surreal beauty of the region.

You will navigate a steady upward section and finally reach the scenic pass. From the top of Lauribina La, the stunning views of the mountain panoramas can be seen. You can enjoy 360-degree views of the sunrays shining over the mountains. 

After enjoying the scenery, the route gently winds its way down through pine forests and several traditional mountain villages before leading you to Sing Gompa. Here, you can check into one of the best local teahouses and enjoy the serenity of the mountain atmosphere.

You will trek to Dhunche on the 11th day of the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek. It is the final day of the trek when you will navigate the varied trails on foot. 

Today's downhill journey takes you towards Dhunche. The landscape gradually changes from high alpine rugged to lush forested terrain. Your first notable stop point is the charming village of Dhimsa.

Continuing your descent, you will follow a trail leading to Deurali, which is a scenic stop for lunch. Throughout the route, you will be treated to scenic views of rolling green hills. You will be mesmerized by the beauty of the lower section trails of the Langtang region. 

You will then descend through forest areas and terraced fields and eventually reach Dhunche. After arriving at Dhunche, you can have a warm meal and take much-needed rest after successfully concluding the trekking portion of this scenic adventure.

This is the day when you will be concluding your Langtang Gosaikunda Lake Trek. After having breakfast, you will enjoy the scenic drive back to Kathmandu. The drive takes place through winding roads following the banks of the serene Trishuli River. Along the way, the sound of rushing water and the sight of green terraces and distant hills will keep you captivated.

After 6 to 7 hours on the road, you will return to Kathmandu. We will then drop you off at your hotel. After you settle into your hotel, you can just take a rest and remember your special moments on the trek. Even though your scenic Langtang Gosaikunda Lake Trek may have ended, the wonderful memories you made during this adventure stay with you forever.
